Knowledge is a form of power, and community maps are the facilitative tool to transmit this power to ordinary citizens.
Participatory mapping is a process in which individual threads of concerns and ideas are woven together, to create a meaningful narrative that highlights possibilities and unifies the power of people. It creates a platform where people can make informed decisions to plan and develop their neighborhoods and cities, creating better living conditions. |
Our tours are a chance to:

blogEM-POWER-MENT THROUGH RE-PRESENTATION
by Paweł Szczap Maps are an interesting phenomenon. While still a child you usually see them either as boring plans you need to study at school or as a means to mind-travel around the world – visit faraway or exotic places both mentally in your head as well as physically with your finger on the map. For many of us maps remain such simple “dual” objects throughout our whole lives. Yet for many others they become much more – a collector’s hobby, a grown person’s plaything, a profession, a object of study, a means of control. Many years ago I was taken by surprise when I understood that maps can help create that for which many struggle with their lives – a more positive and empowering alternative to a reality of injustice, exclusion and oppression.
